October
is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
JELCC devotes a week of activities designed to promote breast cancer awareness.
Our week focuses around celebration and fun. During this week, JELCC programs work together to support a campaign for awareness and
those currently affected by the disease.
Awareness Fact: One in eight US women will be diagnosed with breast
cancer, this is approximately 220,000 women per year. Of that number,
approximately 40,000 will die of the disease.
Awareness Fact: When breast cancer is detected early, in
the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 100%.
Awareness Fact: Of every 1,000
mammograms, only 2 to 4 lead to a diagnosis of cancer.
JELCC shares a special thank you to our JELCC students for organizing Sunshine Baskets. These baskets will be delivered to patients suffering from Breast Cancer.
